I love and enjoy Halloween so much and so do my sons. All the costumes, treats, decorations, and of course parties. Leading up to Halloween we do many things like make treats, Halloween theme food, host Halloween theme play dates, attend Halloween theme parties, we also enjoy making little snack bags so they can hand out to their classmates. It is just such a fun holiday and today I will be sharing one of the spooky cute treats that my kids and I made in our Spooky Snack Lab.

Batty Mini Layer Cake with Fanta Frosting

On my trip to Walmart last week I picked up a couple of things to create something fun with my boys over the weekend. I picked up a 12 pack of Fanta and some OREO.IMAG0812 But, I didn’t just pick up regular OREOS I got the Halloween special edition Glow-in-the-dark 30 ct (2 cookie) packaging. They are so cool and also perfect for class party treats.IMAG0817Back at our lab we began to mix up our spooky ingredients and created a Batty Mini Layer Cake with Fanta Frosting. Here is how we did it:

  • Vanilla Cake Mix
  • Vanilla Frosting
  • 1/8 cup of powder sugar
  • 1/4 cup of Fanta
  • OREO cookies

I began by making my vanilla cake, I simply followed the directions on the box. While the cake baked I made my Fanta frosting. I scooped out all the frosting from the container into a mixing bowl, then I added the Fanta to the icing and mixed. Once that was mixed I added my powdered sugar and combined all 3. It has a runny consistency but that is how I wanted it so that it could ooze out from the layers of the cake.

Batty Mini Layer Cake 1 Once my cake was baked I let it cool down and then I cut out circles using a circle cookie cutter. Next I leveled my mini layers with a butter knife.Batty Mini Layer Cake 2 After I leveled my layers, I added my frosting mix. I did 3 layers per cake and topped them off with 2 OREO cookies. One of the cookies is behind the other one to help raise it up.Batty Mini Layer Cake 3 To add the battiness to them I inserted 2 plastic bat toppers. It gave them a spooky yet cute touch. Perfect Halloween treat without scaring the kids away. Batty Mini Layer Cake 6

I hope you enjoyed this treat and that it inspires you to get in the kitchen and create your own Batty Mini Layer Cakes with Fanta Frosting.
