I don’t know about you but I am not a morning person. I wake up wanting coffee right away but I first drink a glass of water. Right after drinking my water I begin getting my coffee ready. The other day I was watching my favorite Halloween movie Hocus Pocus and when Winifred said “Oh look, another glorious morning…makes me sick” I thought I need to add that quote to a coffee mug. When I realized how easy this would be I knew I had to share this DIY Halloween coffee mug with you.
Disclosure: I am part of the Cricut Blogger Program and I receive products/compensation in exchange for craft ideas. But all opinions are 100% my own. With the help of my Cricut Explore Air 2 I created the mug I wanted with no problem. You will need:
- Cricut Explore Air 2
- Cricut Basic Tools Set
- Cricut Vinyl (color of your choice)
- Cricut transfer tape
- Coffee Mug
The first thing is to open up the Cricut Design Space, go to the left hand side and click the templates then choose mugs. The template is for a standard size coffee mug and it will help you with the placement of the words. Once I had my template on the screen I began by adding the first set of text. The first set was “Oh look, what a glorious morning…” the font I chose for that one is called Paper Lace 2. Next I added another set of text for “makes me sick” and that was done in the font called Friday. I sized it down to an appropriate size for my mug.
After I did that I went to images and searched for a witches hat I choose the one you see below. I ended up only using the silhouette of the hat.
The hat was also sized down and I added it to the word “Oh” to make it seem like the word was wearing it. After everything was the proper size and in the perfect position I selected everything and attached it. Once attached I clicked ‘make it’ on the top right corner.Make sure your machine is set to vinyl and when prompted to do so click the button to begin cutting. When it is done cutting unload the mat and take off your vinyl. When you peel of the vinyl piece make sure to do so carefully some of the cut letters can be delicate. I used the weeder to take off all the little pieces of vinyl that weren’t needed.Next take your transfer tape and place it on top of the vinyl quote. Use your scraper to make sure it attaches properly. Then place it on your mug and use the scraper again to smooth it out and to make sure the quote sticks on good to the mug. Peel the transfer tape carefully. Now your perfect morning coffee mug is complete. I love how it turned out and the little witch hat was the perfect addition to the mug. I hope this coffee mug helps make your mornings easier. Happy crafting!!
