diy christmas ornament gift tag

On the 4th day of Christmas I bring you a DIY Christmas ornament gift tag. I love that this gift tag is so easy to make but yet makes a beautiful statement on the gift. **UPDATED to be included in the Team Creative Crafts ornament blog hop**

Disclosure: I am part of the Cricut Blogger Program and I receive products/compensation in exchange for craft ideas. But all opinions are 100% my own.

Let’s jump right into the tutorial beginning with the supplies;

The first step is to open your Cricut design space and begin a new project. Next click the images icon on the left hand side and in the search bar type ornament, I chose the image above.diy christmas ornament gift tag

My next step was to ungroup the image and move the top layer away. I clicked the top layer and then selected the contour option at the very bottom right corner of the Design Space. When the contour button is clicked the above window pops up, I unselected all the middle area then exited that small window.diy christmas ornament gift tag

When the contour window closed this is what I was left with, a blank center which is the perfect space to put the name.diy christmas ornament gift tag

And that’s exactly what I did next, add the name. When you type the name and choose the font make sure to have all the name selected and weld the letters together. When that is done place the name on top of the ornament and size it to fit.diy christmas ornament gift tag

Now when that is done select the top layer of the ornament and the name and slice them. By slicing the two together it cuts out the name in the ornament. Move that orange ornament layer and you will see the name cutout in it. Next delete the pieces that were left behind. Place the ornament pieces back together and group them. Click make it and follow the on screen instructions.diy christmas ornament gift tag

Here are my two pieces cutout. I went with a white first layer and silver glitter top layer. Next I glued the two pieces together and added a string through the top hole in order to tie it to my gifts bow.diy christmas ornament gift tag

Here is a close up of my final project tied to the gift.diy christmas ornament gift tagThere you have it the 4th day in my 12 Days of Christmas series. Make sure to check out the previous posts below to catch up on the series. Do you like adding personal touches to your gifts?
