How to Make a Color Your Own Valentine Card -

There are so many options for Valentine’s Day cards from store bought, printable, handmade, or diy with the help of your Cricut machines. The Valentine card I am sharing with you today is a color your own valentine card and it was made with my Cricut.

The day before our Valentine’s Day celebration I would write out my store bought cards then the next day I would take them to school. I remember the day was always pretty relaxed. We would do some morning class work but then after lunch we would come back and decorate our bag where our classmates would drop off the Valentine cards. We would then pass out the Valentine cards and have our little classroom party. It was always so much fun. As a child I always had store bought cards which was great because I would always choose a theme that I was into at the time. But when I had my kids I did things little bit different. I would let them choose store bought ones in their favorite character and I would pair them with a handmade valentine card.

Color Your Own Valentine Card Tutorial

I enjoy crafting and it would make me so happy to craft up a valentine card that my kids could share with their friends. In today’s post I am going to show you how I made these Color Your Own Valentine Card. I used my Cricut Explore Air 2 to make these cards. With the Cricut Explore Air 2 writing function they were so easy to make. I do want to note that at the time when I created this post I used the Cricut Explore Air 2 but I am updating this to let you know that you can also use the Cricut Explore 3, Cricut Explore 4, Cricut Maker 3, or Cricut Maker 4. For this project you will need:

I started by launching my Cricut Design Space and creating a 3×4 inch rectangle. After that I inserted my Happy Valentine’s Day text, changed the option from cut to write, and selected the pen I was going to use. Next center the text and size it to fit in your card.

The next thing I did was search for Valentine images. I chose hearts, an xoxo, and a heart balloon.

After choosing my images I deleted any top layers and just left the silhouette of the image. After that I changed each image from cut to write. I also made sure to choose the 0.4 black pen from the menu selection.

The last design step is to arrange all the images on the card and attach them all together. Once that is done you can duplicate the whole card with the images as many times as you want. I was able to fit 6 on a 8.5×11 inch card stock paper.

Next just click make it, insert your pen into the clamp A location, and let your machine do the rest.

I love how this color your own Valentine card turned out, I am sure they will be a hit with the kids at my son’s school.

Which Cricut pens are best for outlines? The best pens to use for outlines in my opinion are the fine point pens. I like to use 0.4 for clean and bold outlines.
What type of designs work well for coloring cards? Simple illustrations like hearts, flowers, and arrows. As well as fun phrases in block lettering for example Be Mine or You’re Sweet.
What coloring tools work bet on Cricut drawn designs? I would suggest crayons or color pencils. You might even be able to use gel pens to add sparkle or metallic accents.
What are fun ways to package color your own cards? You can add crayons or small color pencils in a clear bag along with the card.You can then tie off the bag with some cute ribbon.
